They say, one persons trash is another’s treasure.  If that is the case, then there is a lot of gold to be found on the lawns, in the garages, and backyards of Portage.


Here is an “ornament” with an ill-placed straw. Not sure if it’s placed in the belly button or not, but at any rate, I would not drink from it.

What used to be a Saturday morning rite of passage for many thrifty Portage la Prairians, has expanded to Friday, with many sales starting at noon or earlier on Friday.

HnH hits the streets of Portage to see what bargains were to be had.

Part of the charm of garage sale circuit is seeing what kind of wacky items have been lurking in people’s homes.  One seller told us he had just sold an antique pump organ that folds into a box.  Too bad we didn’t get a picture of that.  Here are a few of our favourites this week.

I love that this assortment of junk… I mean stuff includes a slightly used toe separator. This seller also told me that sales on the used underwear and bras were swift. One comment. Eeewwwww.


Here is a brick from an American Bank. With how bad they failed a few years back I bet there might be a lot of these floating around out there – oh wait, bricks don’t float – sorry.
